III. Charcoal Triennial
The Contemporary Gallery organized the third edition of the Charcoal Drawing Triennale, held at the exhibition space of the Vértes Agora. The event showcased exciting works that reflected how deeply the call for entries resonated with many artists.
Gallery director László Kammerlohr-Kováts welcomed the attendees, after which an art critic, János Cs. Tóth took the floor. In his opening speech titled "Tatabánya, the Homeland of Charcoal Drawing," he discussed the city's coal mining history and addressed the charcoal drawing art form, which, in his opinion, does not receive the attention it deserves. The call for entries allowed artists to freely express their creativity, with the only condition being that the charcoal drawing theme should be present in the artwork. Nearly 150 artists submitted 314 works, and ultimately, 67 were exhibited at the Contemporary Gallery.
